Bihar Polls: Tejashwi Yadav vows double allowances, ₹50 lakh insurance and pensions for panchayat reps; ₹5 lakh interest-free aid for artisans


Patna Bihar: RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial face Tejashwi Yadav announced a major welfare push for Bihar’s grassroots leadership, promising to double the allowances of Panchayati Raj representatives if the INDIA bloc forms the government. He said panchayat and Gram Kachahari representatives would also get pension benefits and be covered under a ₹50 lakh insurance scheme, alongside a higher commission margin for those working in the public distribution network.

Addressing a press conference in Patna with VIP chief Mukesh Sahani, Yadav added that workers in traditional trades such as pottery, blacksmithing, and carpentry would receive interest-free financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to expand their livelihoods. Arguing that Bihar is ready for change, he urged voters to give the alliance 20 months to push reforms and “work to make Bihar the number one state.”
