Bengaluru Monsoon Tragedy: Two Electrocuted in Flooded Apartment, Rain-Related Deaths Reach Three

In Bengaluru, heavy rainfall claimed two more lives on Monday, bringing the city’s rain-related death toll to three. Manmohan Kamath, 63, and Dinesh, a 12-year-old boy, were fatally electrocuted while attempting to clear floodwater from the cellar of Madhuvan Apartment in NS Palya near BTM 2nd Stage. The incident occurred around 6:15 pm amid relentless downpours that have battered the city.
Police stated that the victims were using an external motor to pump out water when a short circuit triggered the deadly shock. The tragedy underscores the dangers posed by Bengaluru’s recurring monsoon flooding, which has overwhelmed infrastructure and disrupted daily life. Earlier, another rain-related fatality was reported, though details remain limited. The India Meteorological Department noted that the city recorded approximately 40 mm of rainfall in the preceding 24 hours, contributing to widespread waterlogging and chaos across key areas like HSR Layout, Silk Board, and Koramangala.
