Bengaluru advocate sexually harassed, robbed while walking her dog, probe on

Bengaluru – A young lawyer in Bengaluru’s Ullala neighborhood has come forward with a chilling account of sexual harassment and robbery, prompting a swift police investigation into the late-night assault.
The 25-year-old advocate was out for a routine evening walk with her dog around 10:30 p.m. on November 7 in Upkar Layout’s II Cross, falling under the jurisdiction of Jnanabharathi police station. What began as a peaceful moment near her home quickly spiraled into terror when an unidentified man approached her, feigning interest in petting the animal to strike up a conversation, according to a report by The Times of India.
As she tried to disengage and move on, the man allegedly lunged forward with an inappropriate physical advance. The woman, acting instinctively in self-defense, shoved him back and delivered a slap when he persisted in trying to touch her again. The confrontation intensified into a scuffle, during which her mobile phone tumbled from her grasp onto the ground.
Seizing the chaos, the assailant snatched the device amid her cries for help. With the street largely empty at that hour, he vanished into the night before anyone could respond. The shaken victim hurried back to her residence and promptly contacted authorities to report the ordeal.

Drawing from her detailed statement, officers have lodged a formal case against the suspect under Sections 74, 75, 115, and 303 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These clauses address sexual harassment, assault to cause hurt, voluntary causing of hurt, and theft, respectively. Investigators are now actively pursuing leads to track down and apprehend the perpetrator.
This incident underscores the vulnerabilities faced by women even in familiar surroundings, as the advocate’s bold resistance highlights the urgent need for heightened vigilance and rapid response from law enforcement. Police have assured the public that all resources are being mobilized to resolve the case swiftly.
