Delhi’s New e-Zero FIR System Targets Cybercrime with Swift Action

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Home Affairs has introduced a groundbreaking initiative called e-Zero FIR in Delhi, designed to streamline the registration of cyber financial crimes. This system automatically converts complaints of cyber fraud exceeding Rs 10 lakh, reported through the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) or the 1930 helpline, into First Information Reports (FIRs).

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced via a post on X on Monday that the initiative, currently a pilot project in Delhi, is set to expand nationwide soon. Shah emphasized that the e-Zero FIR system, developed by the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, will accelerate investigations and enhance efforts to apprehend cybercriminals. “The new system will drive investigations swiftly, cracking down on cybercriminals, and will soon be extended to the entire nation,” Shah stated, adding that the Modi government is committed to strengthening India’s cybersecurity framework.

The same day, Shah also launched an updated Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) portal, marking another step toward modernizing citizen services for the Indian diaspora.
