Daredevil Video Lands Assam Man in Hot Water with Police

A 27-year-old man found himself in custody after sharing a jaw-dropping video on social media that showed him lying between railway tracks as a train roared overhead, according to authorities. The arrest took place in Assam’s Hailakandi district, police confirmed on Thursday.

Papul Alom Barbhuiya was apprehended by Lala police on Tuesday after posting the 31-second clip to Facebook earlier this week. Filmed at Lala railway station, the video captures Barbhuiya positioned between the tracks, seemingly recording as a train passes above him. The source that noted it could not independently confirm the video’s authenticity.

Barbhuiya, who describes himself as a video game programmer on social media and reportedly resides in Bengaluru, uploaded a follow-up video the next day. In it, he claimed the original footage was manipulated, admitting he had sourced the train sequence from online material and stitched it into his recording. He also urged others not to replicate such risky antics.

A police officer stated that after his arrest, Barbhuiya appeared in court and was subsequently released on bail. The investigation remains active, with authorities continuing to probe the incident, the officer added.
