Visakhapatnam – A shocking act of familial violence has left a young couple’s dreams shattered, as a man was fatally stabbed by his wife’s brother just days after their wedding in Andhra Pradesh’s Parvathipuram Manyam district.
The incident occurred late Sunday night in China Boddaputtu village under the Cheepurupalli police limits, where the victim, identified as 25-year-old Mudham Vamsi Krishna from Gurla village in Vizianagaram district, had gone to stay with his new bride at her family home. According to Cheepurupalli Circle Inspector A. Srinivasa Rao, the altercation erupted over a seemingly trivial matter: a disagreement regarding the placement of a mosquito net in the room.
Eyewitnesses and police reports indicate that the argument quickly escalated between Vamsi Krishna and his brother-in-law, 22-year-old M. Rajesh. In a fit of rage, Rajesh allegedly grabbed a knife and inflicted multiple stab wounds on Vamsi Krishna’s chest and abdomen. The gravely injured groom was rushed to a local hospital by family members, but he succumbed to his injuries en route, the inspector confirmed.

Local authorities acted swiftly upon receiving the distress call. Officers from the Cheepurupalli police station arrived at the scene, apprehended Rajesh without resistance, and seized the bloodstained weapon. A case has been registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for murder, with investigations ongoing to ascertain any underlying tensions that may have fueled the outburst. Preliminary inquiries suggest the dispute was spontaneous, with no prior history of enmity between the two men, though police are probing deeper into family dynamics.
The tragedy has cast a pall over the village, where the couple had celebrated their marriage only five days earlier on October 2. Vamsi Krishna, a resident of Gurla and recently employed as a daily wage laborer, leaves behind his grieving widow and parents. Community members expressed dismay at the swift unraveling of what promised to be a joyful union, urging better conflict resolution in households.
Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar echoed the call for calm, assuring the public that justice would be served promptly. “We are committed to a thorough probe to prevent such senseless losses,” he stated. As the investigation unfolds, the focus remains on supporting the bereaved family amid this devastating loss.
