Amit Shah Reveals Post-Retirement Plan: Vedic Study and Natural Farming Advocacy

Even India’s most tireless leaders contemplate life beyond politics. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a central figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and one of the country’s busiest politicians, shared rare personal insights about his retirement plans during an event on Wednesday.

While interacting with women and cooperative activists from Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh at the Sahkar Samvaad in Ahmedabad, the 60-year-old minister often likened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his relentless work ethic stated he would dedicate his post-retirement life to studying the Vedas and Upanishads, alongside practising natural farming.

Shah passionately advocated for chemical-free agriculture, asserting that chemically grown wheat contributes to severe health issues, including cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, and thyroid disorders. “Earlier, we lacked awareness, but consuming food without chemical fertilisers can eliminate the need for medicines,” he emphasized.

Citing personal experience, Shah noted that natural farming on his own land boosted yields by nearly 1.5 times. He also highlighted ecological benefits: “During heavy rains, organic farms retain every drop of water through natural catchways, unlike conventional farms where runoff occurs. Synthetic fertilisers have destroyed earthworms nature’s producers of urea, DAP, and MPK.”

Reflecting on his ministerial roles, Shah singled out the Cooperation Ministry as uniquely impactful. “Though the Home Ministry is vital, leading Cooperation felt like a greater responsibility serving farmers, the poor, villages, and animals,” he remarked.

The event also featured testimonials from women cooperative workers.
