Shocking Mid-Air Incident: Air India Bans Passenger for Urinating on Co-Flyer

An unsettling event unfolded aboard Air India flight AI-2336 from Delhi to Bangkok on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, when a passenger allegedly urinated on a fellow traveler seated in business class. The airline swiftly responded by placing the individual on its no-fly list for 30 days, pending further investigation.
The disruptive incident occurred during the flight’s descent, involving a passenger in seat 2D who urinated on the occupant of seat 1D, identified as Hiroshi Yoshizane, managing director of Bridgestone India, per internal airline documents cited by the newspaper. Yoshizane has not yet filed charges. Air India confirmed the episode, labeling it as “unruly passenger behaviour” in a statement to the outlet, adding that the cabin crew promptly issued a warning to the offender.
Following standard procedures outlined by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the crew offered assistance to Yoshizane, proposing he pursue a formal grievance with Bangkok authorities upon landing. However, he declined the offer. “Air India continues to follow the SOPs as laid out by DGCA in such matters,” the spokesperson emphasized, noting that the matter has been reported to regulatory officials.
People familiar with the situation, revealed that the offending passenger expressed immediate remorse after the act. Despite this, Air India has initiated a temporary ban while its internal committee reviews the case to determine if further action is warranted. The airline’s decisive response underscores its commitment to passenger safety and comfort, amid heightened scrutiny following similar past incidents.
