The 90-year-old star was admitted on Saturday for chest congestion, a heart condition, and complications from a viral and lung infection, prompting worry among fans amid similar news about fellow veteran Dharmendra’s hospitalization.
Medical staff at Lilavati Hospital have provided reassuring updates on Chopra’s condition. Dr. Jalil Parker, part of the treating team alongside family cardiologist Dr. Nitin Gokhale, confirmed to IANS that the actor is not in intensive care but in a regular ward. “He is not in the ICU; he is in the rooms, in the wards, and he is not critical,” Dr. Parker stated. He emphasized that Chopra remains stable, with noticeable improvement, though recovery is slower due to his advanced age. The doctor anticipates discharge in the next two to three days.
Chopra’s family has echoed this optimism, describing the admission as precautionary. Son-in-law and actor Vikas Bhalla told India Today, “It’s all age-related, and a regular procedure. There is nothing to worry about.” He affirmed that Chopra is doing well and will return home shortly.
