In a swift development, two suspects accused of firing at Bollywood actor Disha Patani’s residence in Bareilly were gunned down during a police encounter in Ghaziabad on Wednesday, according to ANI reports.
The individuals, named Ravindra alias Kullu and Arun, were affiliated with the Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara gang, as confirmed by the UP STF.
“Both the accused (Ravindra alias Kullu and Arun), who were injured following an encounter with the police, have succumbed to injuries,” stated the Delhi Police, as quoted by ANI.
PTI reported that a combined team from the STF’s Noida unit and Delhi Police cornered the pair in Ghaziabad’s Tronica City. During the confrontation, an exchange of gunfire left both men critically wounded, after which they were rushed to a hospital.
Additional Director General (ADG) Law and Order, Amitabh Yash, revealed that authorities seized a Glock and a Zigana pistol from the scene, along with a substantial cache of cartridges.
Details of the Attack on Disha Patani’s Bareilly Home
The incident unfolded in the early hours of September 12, around 3:30 am, when two assailants on a motorcycle unleashed gunfire outside Disha Patani’s family home in Bareilly.
Subsequently, a social media post linked to associates of gangster Goldy Brar took credit for the assault. The post was taken down by the morning of September 13, and the account was deactivated by evening.
The circulating post on social media claimed the shooting was in response to alleged “insulting” remarks directed at spiritual leaders Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj. It described the act as “just a trailer” and threatened more attacks to come.
In the aftermath, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached out to Disha Patani’s father, Jagdish Singh Patani a retired deputy superintendent of police and promised enhanced security measures for the family. Jagdish Patani recounted that the attackers discharged approximately 10 to 15 rounds rapidly.
“At around 3 in the morning, I woke up to the sound of dogs barking. I saw the attackers firing at our house. The pistol they used was foreign-made. Once the trigger was pressed, 10-15 rounds fired in quick succession. We were extremely scared and immediately informed the police,” he explained.
