10 Killed, 40 Hurt As Two Government Buses Collide Head-On in Tamil Nadu’s Thirupathur

At least 10 people have lost their lives and approximately 40 others sustained injuries following a head-on crash between two state-run buses near Thirupathur in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, according to officials.

Authorities reported that one bus was traveling toward Karaikudi while the other was en route to Madurai when the collision occurred on a roadway close to Thirupathur. The force of the impact trapped multiple passengers inside both vehicles until local bystanders and rescue personnel managed to extract them.

Those injured in the accident have been transported to Sivagangai Government Hospital for treatment. Officials have cautioned that the death count could climb further as several victims remain in serious condition.

An investigation has been initiated to identify what led to the crash. Emergency response teams continue operating at the scene, and vehicular movement along the affected route has been temporarily halted.
