Water Pipeline Bursts at Mahim Causeway Sending Water Shooting Into Air; Supply Disrupted in Khar and Bandra

Mumbai: A major water pipeline burst during excavation work on Mahim Causeway on Monday afternoon, causing massive water leakage that flooded the road. The waterlogging brought vehicular traffic to a near standstill. The incident has severely disrupted water supply in Khar West and Bandra West.

The municipal corporation’s water department team rushed to the spot and undertook repairs on a war footing.

The incident occurred on Monday at 1:35 pm on the northbound carriageway of Mahim Causeway, when a water pipeline with a 900 mm diameter burst during excavation work. The rupture caused large-scale leakage, with millions of litres of water flowing onto the road and disrupting traffic.

Municipal water department officials immediately rushed to the scene and began emergency repair work to contain the leakage and restore normal conditions.
