Vikhroli East – West connecter bridge ready, soon to be open to the public

In what may come as a surprise to citizens, BMC has completed the construction of the flyover near Vikhroli railway station within the scheduled time. The bridge will connect the Eastern and Western suburbs of Mumbai. The remaining work is scheduled to be finished in the next 2 days.

All the main works of the bridge have been completed before 31st May 2025, the deadline set by the Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar. The BMC has informed that the bridge will be open to the public soon per the traffic rules.

A flyover over the railway line at Vikhroli in the eastern suburbs will connect the east-west side. The Eastern Express Highway in the eastern region and Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg in Vikhroli West will be connected by this bridge. The travel time will be reduced by roughly half an hour.

About 90% of the bridge has been constructed by the BMC, the remaining 10% by the Railways. The bridge is 615 meters in length and 12 meters in width. A total of 18 beams have been installed in the three phases of the construction of the bridge of which 7 have been installed by the Railways.
