Mumbai Braces for Intense Rainfall as IMD Issues Alerts Across Maharashtra

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy to extreme rainfall across Maharashtra, with Mumbai expected to experience significant downpours from June 12 to June 15. A red alert has been issued for the Konkan region, signaling the potential for extremely heavy rain today. Meanwhile, orange alerts are in place for Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and Marathwada, indicating heavy to moderate rainfall, while a yellow alert covers other parts of the state.
The city has been under cloudy skies since late yesterday evening, with light rain and high humidity levels reaching 87%. According to the IMD, Mumbai and its suburban areas are likely to see substantial rainfall today, accompanied by overcast conditions. The weather agency’s latest update emphasizes the likelihood of intense showers, particularly in coastal areas, urging residents to prepare for potential disruptions.
