Mumbai – Residents of Mumbai can expect cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall throughout the day, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather agency forecasts intermittent showers, with occasional heavy spells possible in isolated areas, continuing through the evening. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 31°C, while the minimum will settle near 26°C, offering a relatively warm and humid day.
The IMD’s regional center in Mumbai reported that the city’s weather will remain overcast, driven by a low-pressure system influencing the region. Coastal areas may experience stronger winds, with gusts up to 40–50 kmph, potentially affecting fishing activities. Fishermen have been advised to exercise caution due to rough sea conditions, as stated in the IMD’s daily bulletin.
Yesterday, Colaba recorded 8 mm of rainfall, while Santacruz saw slightly less at 6 mm, reflecting a trend of light showers across the city. The IMD predicts similar conditions today, with no significant disruptions expected. However, commuters are urged to stay updated on local traffic advisories, as wet roads could lead to minor delays.
Air quality in Mumbai remains satisfactory, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 75, as reported by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The combination of rain and moderate winds is expected to keep pollution levels in check, providing relief to residents.
The IMD has also indicated that the monsoon’s intensity may vary over the next few days, with more updates to follow. Mumbai’s civic authorities, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), are on standby to address any waterlogging or related issues, though no major concerns have been reported so far.
