Mumbai Braces for Heavy Rainfall as IMD Issues Yellow Alert

Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar are on alert as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall on July 27, 2025. The forecast predicts intense showers and gusty winds, particularly in isolated areas, prompting residents to stay cautious.

The IMD’s bulletin, released on Saturday, highlighted the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Mumbai and its neighboring districts. A low-pressure system influencing the region is expected to bring cloudy skies and strong winds, with gusts reaching up to 50-60 kmph. The department has advised vigilance, especially in low-lying and coastal areas prone to waterlogging and disruptions.

For Sunday, Mumbai is likely to experience moderate to heavy rain, with temperatures ranging between 25°C and 30°C. The IMD also noted that high tide levels could exacerbate conditions in coastal zones, urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel and secure loose objects. Fishermen have been cautioned against venturing into the sea due to rough conditions.

The local authorities are monitoring the situation, with disaster management teams on standby to address potential flooding or other rain-related incidents. The yellow alert remains in effect, and updates will be provided as the weather system evolves.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official IMD channels and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period of unsettled weather.
