Mumbai Braces for Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms on July 10

Mumbai is set to experience overcast skies with moderate to heavy rainfall on Thursday, July 10, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The forecast predicts intense showers, particularly along the Konkan coast, where the monsoon remains active. Thunderstorms and wind gusts reaching 40-50 km/h are expected to accompany the rain, potentially intensifying its impact. As of 9 a.m., light rain was reported with temperatures at 29°C, 35% precipitation, 81% humidity, and wind speeds around 13 km/h. The IMD anticipates temperatures will fluctuate between 27°C and 29°C throughout the day.

The city faces a significant risk of waterlogging in low-lying areas such as Dadar, Andheri, Kurla, and Sion, especially with a high tide of 3.95 meters expected around 11:25 a.m. This could disrupt transport and rail services, particularly in areas like Wadala and Matunga. Winds are forecasted to blow at 20-30 km/h, with gusts up to 40-55 km/h in some locations due to cyclonic patterns. The IMD has issued yellow and orange alerts for Mumbai and nearby districts, signaling widespread heavy rainfall across the city and suburbs.
