Thane Trio Charged with Swindling Rs 56 Lakh from Job Seekers

Authorities in Thane have filed a case against three individuals accused of defrauding four job seekers out of Rs 56 lakh by falsely promising them positions with the Indian Railways, a police official announced on Tuesday. The scam targeted residents of Badlapur, a town in Maharashtra’s Thane district, who were deceived with counterfeit railway documents.

According to the official from Badlapur East police station, the perpetrators collected substantial payments from the victims over a nearly four-year period, spanning September 2020 to July 2024, after earning their confidence with the forged paperwork. However, when pressed for updates on the promised jobs, the accused offered no clear answers, and the documents they provided were later confirmed to be fraudulent.
