Teen’s Tragic Death in Thane Sparks Concern Over Mobile Phone Restrictions

A 16-year-old boy in Maharashtra’s Thane district took his own life by hanging at his home after his father confiscated his mobile phone to curb his gaming habits, authorities reported on Friday. The incident unfolded on Thursday in a chawl in Newali village, Ambernath town, according to a police official.
The teenager, identified as Aman Sahu, a Class 10 student, reportedly used a ceiling fixture to hang himself while his family was out of the house. Police stated that Sahu’s parents had been pushing him to prioritize his education, even enrolling him in additional classes to support his studies. Concerned about his obsession with a mobile game, they decided to limit his phone use and ultimately removed the device from his possession.
