Revas: The infrastructure landscape of the Raigad district is set for a significant transformation as the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) advances the Revas-Karanja bridge project. According to reports from the Free Press Journal and other media outlets, this four-lane bridge over Dharamtar Creek will reduce the current 70-km road journey between Uran and Alibaug from two hours to just 30 minutes.
Part of the ambitious 498-km Revas-Redi Coastal Highway (MSH-4), the 10.25-km project includes a 2.04-km bridge designed for speeds of 80 km/h. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently highlighted the project as a “game-changer,” noting its potential to provide seamless access for motorists traveling from Mumbai via the Atal Setu.
Beyond convenience, the bridge is expected to be an economic catalyst. By cutting the distance between Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) and Alibaug from 55 km to 30 km, it will streamline logistics and provide direct access to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. Local residents told news agencies that the bridge would eliminate the dependence on seasonal ferry services, which often suspend operations during the monsoon.
With construction moving forward, the project promises to boost Konkan tourism and enhance the quality of life for commuters in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
