One Dead, Another Injured in Fire at Mumbai’s Multi-Storey Building

A fire that broke out early Monday morning in a 13-storey residential building in Mumbai’s Vidyavihar area has claimed the life of a security guard and left another person injured. The blaze started at 4:35 am in the Takshshila Co-operative Housing Society, located near Vidyavihar station on Nathani Road. The fire affected several flats on the first and second floors, damaging electric installations, household items, wooden furniture, AC units, and clothes.
According to fire officials, 15 to 20 people were safely evacuated from the building. Two security guards were injured in the incident and rushed to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment. Uday Gangan, 43, succumbed to his injuries, suffering 100% burn wounds, while Sabhajit Yadav, 52, sustained 25 to 30% burns and is currently receiving medical care.
The fire, classified as a “level-two” incident, was extinguished by 7:33 am. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
