New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon Visits Dalal Street, Signs MoU at BSE

Mumbai: New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, continued his official visit to India today with a significant stop at the iconic Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in Mumbai’s financial hub, Dalal Street. This visit marks Luxon’s first trip to the Indian subcontinent since assuming office.

Apart from his high-level meetings in Delhi, Luxon’s schedule included a visit to the historic BSE. While there, he participated in a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony held at the BSE’s International Convention Hall (ICH). The details of the MoU were not immediately disclosed.

In a symbolic gesture representing the energy and dynamism of the financial markets, Prime Minister Luxon also posed for photographs with the famed “Raging Bull” statue located at the BSE.

Prior to his visit to Dalal Street, PM Luxon engaged in discussions with the Governor of Maharashtra and the state’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis. He shared a moment from these meetings on social media platform X, expressing enthusiasm about potential economic collaborations.

In his post, Luxon stated, “New Zealand and Maharashtra are going for economic growth. We both know this is the way to create more jobs and raise incomes. Pleasure to meet Mumbai Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to talk economic growth and where we might partner in the future for mutual benefit.”

Earlier in his India trip, before arriving in Mumbai, Prime Minister Luxon held meetings with the Indian President, Droupadi Murmu, and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in Delhi. His visit underscores the growing bilateral ties and economic interests between New Zealand and India.
