Body Found Buried Under New Tiles in Nalasopara House

In a chilling incident in Nalasopara (east), a 32-year-old man’s body was uncovered buried beneath his residence, sparking a police investigation, according to the sources. The grim find came to light after Vijay Chauhan’s brothers grew suspicious due to his phone being unreachable for nearly three weeks. Their concerns deepened upon noticing freshly laid floor tiles in a corner of his home and the absence of his wife, Chaman Devi, aged 28.
The discovery was made on Monday evening when Chauhan’s brothers visited his chawl residence, prompted by his prolonged silence. The siblings, who also live nearby, had last checked on him on July 10. At that time, Chaman Devi claimed her husband was occupied with work in Kurla. However, when they returned on Saturday and found her phone switched off and no sign of her for two days, their unease intensified.
Neighbors informed the brothers that Chaman Devi had not been seen recently, and a 20-year-old local man was also unaccounted for, though police noted it’s unclear if he’s connected to the case. The brothers’ suspicions peaked upon spotting the new tiles. With help from neighbors, they dug approximately four feet beneath the tiles, uncovering Vijay Chauhan’s clothing and confirming the tragic find, as per a senior officer from Pelhar police station.
The police have launched a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding Chauhan’s death and the whereabouts of his wife.
