Mumbai’s Vikhroli East-West Flyover Opens Today: 30-Minute Travel Time Cut, Says BMC

Mumbai: The city’s newest infrastructure triumph, a flyover linking Vikhroli East and West, is set to open for traffic at 4:00 PM today, Saturday, June 14, 2025. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that the 615-meter-long, 12-meter-wide structure connects Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg in Vikhroli West to the Eastern Express Highway in Vikhroli East, promising to cut travel time between the two areas by about 30 minutes.

Built in three phases, the flyover features 18 girder spans supported by 19 piers 12 on the eastern side and 7 on the western side. A traffic holding bay on the western approach has also been included to streamline vehicle flow and reduce congestion.

Managed by the BMC’s Roads and Traffic Department, this project is a significant step toward improving connectivity across Vikhroli and easing Mumbai’s notorious traffic bottlenecks. The BMC shared details of the flyover’s technical specifications and its role in enhancing urban mobility via an X post, underscoring its importance for local commuters.

The opening of this vital link marks a milestone in Mumbai’s ongoing efforts to upgrade its road network and improve the daily commute for residents.
