Mumbai woke up to partly cloudy skies on Tuesday, with residents expected to experience another warm and humid day. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures in the city are likely to remain above 31 degrees Celsius, while rain and thundershowers are expected during the afternoon or evening hours.
The weather department stated that the city’s temperature is likely to hover between 30°C and 35°C through the day. Early morning temperatures were recorded at around 31°C, adding to the humid conditions across Mumbai.
Rain And Thunderstorm Activity Expected Later
The IMD has predicted the possibility of rain or thundershowers later in the day, offering some relief from the prevailing heat. The forecast comes amid delayed monsoon conditions in Mumbai and nearby regions.
Weather activity over the city is expected to remain unstable, with cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall likely in several areas by evening.
Air Quality Remains In ‘Good’ Category
Despite the warm weather, Mumbai’s air quality continued to remain satisfactory. According to AQI.in, the city recorded an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 24 during the early hours of Tuesday, placing it in the ‘good’ category.
The cleaner air levels were observed across several parts of the city, even as humidity levels stayed high.
Monsoon Progress Being Closely Monitored
The IMD has been closely monitoring monsoon movement across Maharashtra and other parts of the country. Recent forecasts have indicated changing weather patterns, including thunderstorms and rainfall activity in several regions.
As per the latest update, Mumbai residents can expect a mix of heat, humidity and scattered rainfall activity over the coming days.
