Mumbai Braces for Warm, Humid Days with Clear Skies

Mumbai and its suburbs experienced predominantly clear skies on Thursday morning, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Residents can expect continued warm and humid conditions throughout the day, with the weather department forecasting a maximum temperature of around 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27 degrees Celsius.

Mumbai’s overall air quality stayed in the ‘satisfactory’ category on Thursday, registering an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 79 according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer App. Multiple monitoring stations across the city also reported satisfactory AQI levels.

In specific areas, Bandra Kurla Complex recorded an AQI of 124, Borivali East stood at 71, Byculla at 58, and Andheri East at 87. Other readings included Chembur at 66, Colaba at 55, Ghatkopar at 80, and Kandivali at 64.

Air quality remained stable across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) as well. Thane reported an AQI of 86, Kalyan 97, and Navi Mumbai 83, all within the satisfactory range. Overall, weather and air quality conditions in Mumbai and surrounding areas showed no major issues.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad districts for the next four days. This warning points to hot and humid conditions in isolated pockets, while some parts of the state may see rain and thunderstorms.

According to the IMD bulletin issued at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region is likely to face hot and humid weather until Saturday, followed by drier conditions on Sunday.

In the Konkan region, including Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, hot and humid weather is expected alongside chances of light rain or thundershowers during the afternoon or evening from Wednesday through Friday. Thunderstorms with lightning, moderate rainfall, and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are anticipated at isolated places on Thursday and Friday.

Parts of the Western Ghats, covering districts such as Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Pune, are also likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, moderate rainfall, and strong gusty winds at isolated locations over the same period.
