Mumbai Weather: Temperatures Climb to 37°C in City

Mumbai residents faced another sweltering start to the day on Tuesday, with the city recording approximately 30°C by 9 a.m. under clear skies. Forecasts indicate that temperatures in Mumbai and neighbouring Thane are likely to peak at 37°C, intensifying discomfort particularly during the afternoon hours. Navi Mumbai is also expected to see highs around 35°C.

Air quality in Mumbai remained in the moderate category with an AQI reading of 60. Thane recorded an AQI of 78, while Navi Mumbai stood at 91.

Heatwave-like conditions have persisted across much of Maharashtra. On April 27, districts such as Amravati, Akola, and Wardha experienced severe heat, with temperatures nearing 47°C in some areas. Weather expert Anil Band told IANS that an anticyclonic circulation over the state is causing heat to become trapped, contributing to these elevated temperatures.

The warm and dry conditions have extended beyond the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, affecting large parts of the state. While no rainfall is immediately forecast for Mumbai and surrounding areas on Tuesday, the prevailing pattern points to continued hot weather in the coming days.
