The cold wave gripping Maharashtra has significantly eased, bringing welcome relief to residents and farmers as winter’s intensity fades across the state. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the sharp chill that marked recent weeks is giving way to milder conditions, with daytime warmth becoming more noticeable and the threat of unseasonal rain diminishing.
Over the past few days, Maharashtra has seen a marked shift in weather patterns. Morning and nighttime temperatures remain cool in several regions, but afternoons are increasingly warm under clearer skies, allowing stronger sunlight to prevail. This transition signals the approaching end of the winter season, with no intense cold expected in the near term.
On February 6, the IMD forecasts predominantly dry and stable weather throughout Maharashtra, a pattern likely to persist in the coming days. No rainfall is anticipated, and atmospheric changes—including reduced influence from northern cold winds and shifting pressure systems—have contributed to the rising temperatures.

In Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, and the broader Konkan region, skies will stay mostly clear. Mornings will feel mildly chilly, transitioning to noticeable heat by afternoon. Daytime highs are expected to range between 30°C and 32°C, while lows hover around 18°C to 20°C.
Western Maharashtra will experience similar conditions, with cool mornings and warmer afternoons pushing maximum temperatures to 30°C–33°C. In Marathwada and Vidarbha, dry weather will prevail, accompanied by daytime heat reaching 31°C–35°C in many areas.
Coastal zones may see light breezes offering some evening comfort amid the evolving pattern. Weather experts note that while pockets of morning chill persist in rural and interior parts, the overall moderation marks a turning point.
The IMD advises residents to guard against rising daytime heat as winter winds down, particularly in exposed areas. This gradual warming trend aligns with broader seasonal forecasts indicating fewer cold wave episodes in the state this month.
