Mumbai Set for Sunny Skies as IMD Forecasts Clear Conditions, AQI Holds Steady in Moderate Range

Mumbai – Residents of Mumbai can expect predominantly clear skies over the city and its suburbs today, with temperatures peaking around 33 degrees Celsius and dipping to a low of about 19 degrees Celsius, as forecasted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The city’s air quality continues to fall within the ‘moderate’ category. Data from the Sameer app indicates an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 133 for Mumbai on Monday. This level could lead to respiratory discomfort for individuals suffering from lung conditions, asthma, or heart-related ailments.

Variations were noted across different areas: BKC registered an AQI of 160, Malad West at 140, Andheri East at 138, Deonar at 142, Mazgaon at 123, Colaba at 118, Borivali at 113, and Bhandup West at 94.

In contrast, Delhi experienced far worse conditions on the same morning, with dense fog enveloping the capital and its AQI climbing to 402, entering the ‘severe’ zone according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The previous afternoon’s reading was 390, classified as ‘very poor’. Several Delhi localities exceeded 400, including Anand Vihar at 455 and Bawana at 411, while spots like Wazirpur, Rohini, Punjabi Bagh, and Patparganj also hit severe levels. Some areas remained in the ‘very poor’ category, such as Dwarka Sector 8 at 400. Visibility was severely reduced due to the thick fog, forcing drivers to use headlights and causing general inconvenience.
