Cold Wave Sweeps Maharashtra: Seven Districts on High Alert as Winter Chill Intensifies

Pune – Winter has tightened its grip on Maharashtra, with a sharp rise in cold conditions prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a cold wave warning for seven districts in the central part of the state.

The affected areas include Dhule, Nandurbar, Nashik, Jalgaon, Ahilyanagar, Pune, and Solapur. Residents in these regions have been advised to take extra precautions amid the plunging temperatures.

Even the coastal Konkan region is feeling the bite of winter, with minimum temperatures in Mumbai expected to hover between 15°C and 18°C. North Maharashtra districts are experiencing widespread cold wave conditions, adding to the statewide chill.

The IMD’s alert highlights the need for vigilance, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children. While the seven central districts face the most severe impact, cold weather is set to persist across other parts of Maharashtra in the coming days.

This latest forecast underscores a broader trend of harsher winter conditions in the region, as dry northerly winds continue to drive down nighttime temperatures. Authorities recommend layering clothing, limiting outdoor exposure during early mornings and late evenings, and staying informed through official updates.
