Mumbai: Mumbai is set to experience warm weather conditions on May 2, with a mix of sunny and partly cloudy skies expected across the city and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), according to a report by Free Press Journal. The day began with clear skies and a noticeable rise in temperature, reflecting typical early summer conditions in the region.
As reported by the Free Press Journal, the city recorded a morning temperature of around 31°C by 9 am, accompanied by breezy yet warm conditions. The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast that the skies will remain partly cloudy during the early part of the day before turning mostly clear by the afternoon and evening. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 33°C in Mumbai, while neighbouring areas may experience slightly higher readings.
The report further notes that regions such as Thane and Navi Mumbai could witness temperatures climbing even higher, potentially reaching up to 37°C and 34°C respectively. These conditions are likely to cause discomfort, especially during peak afternoon hours when heat intensity tends to be at its highest.
Air quality across the city remains in the ‘moderate’ category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 64. While some areas continue to report relatively better air quality, others have shown variations ranging from ‘good’ to ‘moderate’, highlighting uneven pollution levels across different parts of Mumbai.
Despite the absence of an official heatwave warning, authorities have advised residents to take precautions against the heat. As highlighted by Free Press Journal, people are encouraged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours, and opt for light clothing and balanced meals to cope with the rising temperatures.
