According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in Mumbai was recorded at around 31 degrees Celsius, adding to the humid and oppressive conditions experienced across the region.
The weather department has issued a yellow alert for May 15, cautioning residents about the possibility of heatwave-like conditions in parts of the city and surrounding areas. The IMD stated that clear skies and high humidity are contributing to the rise in temperatures across Mumbai and the MMR. Residents have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct exposure to sunlight for long durations, and take necessary precautions while stepping outdoors.
Several areas in the city reported intense heat early in the day, indicating that daytime temperatures could remain elevated over the next few days. The warning also applies to nearby regions within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, where similar weather conditions are expected.
As per the IMD forecast, hot and humid weather is likely to persist, with authorities continuing to monitor the situation closely. The alert serves as a precautionary measure to help citizens stay prepared amid the ongoing rise in temperatures.
