Mumbai Swelters Under Heatwave as Humidity Soars, Air Quality Holds Steady

Mumbai is grappling with persistent heat and humidity, according to the latest updates from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). On Monday, April 14, 2025, the city is forecast to see clear skies, with temperatures expected to range between 24°C in the early morning and a high of 35°C during the day. The relative humidity, recorded at 76%, adds to the discomfort felt by residents. Sunrise occurred at 6:22 AM, and sunset is anticipated at 6:56 PM.
Data from the IMD’s Santacruz observatory in suburban Mumbai showed a maximum temperature of 33.2°C and a minimum of 24°C over the weekend, while Sunday saw a peak of 33.6°C. The city has experienced a notable increase in heatwave conditions recently, making outdoor activities challenging for many.
Meanwhile, air quality in Mumbai remains a positive note. The Central Pollution Control Board’s SAMEER app reported an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 66 at 9:05 AM on April 14, placing it in the “good” category. This indicates that, despite the oppressive weather, the air remains safe for most residents to breathe.
