Mumbai Traffic Alert: Dual Shiv Sena Rallies to Snarl City Traffic on Dussehra; Check Alternate Routes

Mumbai: The city is witnessing heightened security and major traffic curbs today, October 2, as both Shiv Sena factions prepare to stage massive Dussehra rallies at separate venues. Authorities are warning of severe congestion and urging commuters to follow diversion routes.

The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena will continue the party’s six-decade tradition with its rally at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon from 6 PM. On the other hand, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) will hold its annual gathering at the iconic Shivaji Park in Dadar, beginning at 5 PM. Both events are expected to be politically crucial as leaders address issues ranging from farmer welfare to inflation, ahead of local body elections.

Traffic Restrictions
Mumbai Police have issued multiple traffic advisories. In Goregaon, entry from Lte Mrinaltai Gore Junction to NESCO Gap will be closed, and right turns via the Ram Mandir flyover towards NESCO will be prohibited. Vehicle movement on the NESCO Service Road running from Hub Mall to Jaycoach Junction will also be restricted.

Diversions for vehicles from Ram Mandir include taking the Mrinaltai Gore Flyover to the southbound service road of the Western Express Highway towards Jaycoach Junction. Motorists can then continue on JVLR towards Powai or rejoin WEH via the service road. Heavy congestion is also expected across Dadar due to the UBT faction’s massive rally at Shivaji Park.

Security Deployment
Coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti and Durga idol immersion processions, city authorities are deploying a large security force. More than 16,500 constables and 2,890 officers will be on duty, backed by Riot Control teams, Combat units, Quick Response Teams (QRT), and Bomb Detection & Disposal Squads (BDDS).
