Mumbai Weather: Cloudy Skies and Moderate Rain Expected Today

Mumbai – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted cloudy skies with moderate rainfall for Mumbai on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, according to a report. Residents can expect intermittent showers throughout the day, with temperatures ranging between 25°C and 31°C. The IMD’s regional weather center in Mumbai indicated that the city and its suburbs may experience light to moderate rain, with the possibility of heavier showers in isolated areas.

The forecast comes as the monsoon season begins to wane, but the city remains under the influence of a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea, contributing to the cloudy and wet conditions. The IMD has advised residents to stay prepared for potential disruptions due to rain, particularly during peak commuting hours. No severe weather warnings have been issued, but caution is recommended for those traveling in low-lying or flood-prone areas.

Air quality in Mumbai is expected to remain in the ‘moderate’ category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) likely to hover around 100-150, as per the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR). The humidity levels are projected to stay high, between 70% and 85%, adding to the muggy atmosphere.

For those planning outdoor activities, the IMD suggests carrying umbrellas or raincoats and avoiding waterlogged areas. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has assured that drainage systems are being monitored to prevent waterlogging, a common issue during heavy rainfall in the city.

The weather is expected to remain similar over the next 24 hours, with cloudy skies and occasional showers persisting into Thursday. As Mumbai navigates this rainy spell, preparedness and caution will help ensure a smooth day for commuters and residents alike.
