Mumbai: Persistent downpours on Tuesday led to widespread flooding in various parts of the city, throwing road and rail operations into disarray. The local train network, a vital artery for daily commuters, faced major disruptions, stranding countless passengers at stations for extended periods.
In a swift move, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) mobilized to support those caught in the mess. Civic teams handed out necessities like bottled water, hot tea, biscuits, and light snacks to affected travelers at key railway hubs and other spots.

Footage from affected areas captured municipal staff providing these refreshments while trains remained halted due to submerged tracks. The initiative drew praise across social media, with numerous posts expressing gratitude for the authorities’ quick assistance during the tough travel conditions.
A clip posted by the BMC showcased officials delivering food and supplies directly inside local train compartments and at stations. They also extended help to people stuck on flooded roadways, easing the burdens of those navigating the relentless rain.

With intense showers pounding Mumbai for the fourth straight day, the local police have ramped up efforts to aid residents dealing with the deluge. Officers are tackling everything from unclogging inundated streets to rescuing stalled vehicles, staying dedicated to supporting the community through the turmoil.
At Parel’s Shirodkar Market, police were spotted aiding in the extraction of a vehicle mired in high water, ensuring no one was abandoned. Over at Oberoi Junction, where backups built up from pooling water, Mumbai Police worked alongside @mybmc personnel to guide commuters and maintain order.
