Mumbai continues to endure severe downpours and electrical storms that have persisted for several weeks. Weather formations developed on May 25, leading to precipitation that commenced during the early hours of May 26. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) anticipates the metropolitan area will witness predominantly overcast conditions accompanied by substantial rainfall.
Multiple districts across Maharashtra have remained under orange and red weather warnings during May’s third week, with several areas in both Maharashtra and Goa confronting intense to extremely heavy precipitation, resulting in waterlogging across numerous locations.
The challenging weather patterns appear set to continue for several additional days across Maharashtra and Goa regions, where orange and red alerts have been maintained throughout the third week of May due to severe rainfall events that have triggered flooding in multiple areas.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued its most recent advisory stating that thunderstorms with electrical activity and heavy rain bursts, along with strong winds reaching speeds of 50-60 kilometers per hour, are highly probable in isolated locations within Mumbai’s districts over the coming 3-4 hours.
Temperature readings for May 26 are projected to range from a low of 23 degrees Celsius to a high of 31 degrees Celsius. The IMD’s forecast indicates comparable meteorological conditions featuring overcast skies and substantial rainfall will persist in the coming days.
