Mumbai Police Bust Major Drug Ring, Seize ₹10 Crore in Charas

The Chunabhatti police have apprehended two individuals from Gujarat in connection with a significant drug trafficking operation, confiscating 10 kilograms of charas valued at approximately ₹10 crore.
The suspects, identified as Raheem Majid Sheikh, 30, and Shantilal Tandel, 32, both from Valsad, were arrested on Saturday. Authorities first detained Sheikh after observing suspicious behavior. A search of his possessions revealed 1.9 kilograms of charas, estimated to be worth ₹1.9 crore. Following his interrogation, Sheikh provided information leading to Tandel’s involvement.
The police then conducted a raid in Valsad, where they seized an additional quantity of Afghan charas valued at ₹8.1 crore. The combined haul marks a significant blow to the drug trade in the region. Both individuals face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The operation underscores the Mumbai police’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the city, with investigations continuing to uncover further details about the network behind this seizure.
