The Mumbai Police has filed three different cases against over fifty protestors in connection with the protests at Chaityabhoomi in Dadar, according to ANI.
According to IANS, complaints against the organizers and over fifty protesters have been filed at the Mahim and Shivaji Park police stations in Mumbai under the Maharashtra Police Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The police claimed that orders prohibiting meetings were in effect at the time and that the demonstration was conducted without authorization.
Notably, starting on Thursday and continuing until August 6, the Mumbai Police have issued orders that forbid public meetings of five or more people without authorization throughout the city.
According to the Mumbai Police, some students who had previously been held have recently received notifications to participate in the probe.
The Monsoon Session began on Monday, the same day as the demonstration in Delhi. The purpose of the event was to call for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to his alleged mishandling of competitive exams.
Some protesters got closer to Parliament and assembled at various spots in central Delhi while the police prevented the protest organizers from continuing. Social media has been flooded by the scenes of the protests, from police personnel being beaten up to police personnel beating students, people being arrested and detained, including the likes of LoP Rahul Gandhi, the scenes in Delhi have polarized crores of people across the nation.
Supporters flocked to other parts of the nation, including Chaityabhoomi in Mumbai, after the police operation.
To stop big crowds, the Mumbai Police arrested a number of people, mainly students, from Chaityabhoomi, Dadar railway station, Shivaji Park, and Mahim.
Participants said that nonviolent demonstrators were arrested by police.
Mumbai for Peace member Sameer Wagle told that when he was arrested and brought to the Mahim police station with other detainees, he had merely been photographing the protest and was not participating in it.
Dhammrakshit Randive, a theater performer, claimed he was arrested for a short while before participating in the demonstration for almost an hour. He was then arrested once again before being freed.
Following the announcement of more protests in support of the demonstration in Delhi, there was a large police presence on Tuesday at a number of locations in Mumbai, including Azad Maidan, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters, according to Mid Day.
