Mumbai Metro Line 3 Boosts Commuter Experience with IRHPL Retail Deal at BKC and Airport T2 Stations

Mumbai: India Retail Hub Private Limited (IRHPL) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) to manage retail operations at key stations along the Mumbai Metro 3 Line, according to a recent announcement. The 22km operational stretch of Metro 3, connecting Aarey to Worli, will see its Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Mumbai Airport T2 Terminal stations transformed into vibrant retail and service hubs under IRHPL’s oversight.
As the designated Master Concessionaire, IRHPL will spearhead the development of retail spaces, food and beverage outlets, and passenger-focused amenities at these stations. The retail group aims to reimagine metro stations as dynamic, commuter-friendly environments that blend convenience with a premium experience.
Naresh Sharma, CEO of IRHPL, emphasized the significance of this venture, stating, “This MoU marks a pivotal moment for us as we expand beyond our airport retail portfolio. Metro stations represent a growing opportunity in India’s travel retail sector, and we’re excited to create engaging, multi-dimensional spaces for commuters.”
The collaboration is set to elevate the standard of metro station facilities, offering commuters a refreshed experience through thoughtfully designed retail and service zones. IRHPL plans to integrate world-class design standards, drawing from its expertise in airport retail, to create innovative and functional spaces within Mumbai’s metro network.
Ramana Rachaprolu, Planning Director at MMRCL, expressed optimism about the partnership, saying, “Teaming up with IRHPL brings us closer to redefining urban transit. Their proven track record in airport retail assures us that Metro 3 stations will offer a modern, seamless, and forward-thinking experience for passengers.”
Commuters can look forward to a range of amenities, including high-quality retail stores, quick-service dining options, premium lounges, and experiential zones, bringing an airport-style retail experience to Mumbai’s metro system. This initiative reflects a shared vision to transform metro stations into dynamic urban hubs that enhance the daily commute.
