Mumbai Man Loses ₹10,000 in Thane Dating App Scam

A Mumbai man has taken to Reddit to warn others after being scammed out of nearly ₹10,000 by a woman he met on the dating app Aisle. In a post titled “Got scammed through dating app,” he detailed how a date at a Thane bar devolved into a costly trap.

The man explained that he arranged a spontaneous meeting with the woman near Upvan Lake in Thane. After he waited for an hour, she arrived and suggested they go to a nearby bar, which he described as a large but mostly empty hall. The establishment was later identified on the bill as Paablo Baar and Lounch.

According to the post, the woman proceeded to order multiple rounds of premium Blue Label whisky for herself, while the man consumed a beer and a vodka. “She kept on ordering Blue Label until she had 4,” he recounted. The night ended with a staggering bill of ₹24,000, plus an additional ₹2,000 service charge. Feeling pressured by waiters he described as intimidating, the man paid ₹10,000. He noted that the vast majority of the bill was for the whisky orders.

Immediately after the payment, the woman allegedly said she was scared, left the bar, and hailed an auto-rickshaw from a distance before cutting off all contact. The man shared blurred images of the woman and the bill as a warning to the online community.

One commenter wrote, “Bhai tum news aur Reddit nahi padhte ho kya” (Brother, don’t you read the news or Reddit?), adding, “This scam is very common for past 3-4 years.” Another user reported a nearly identical encounter with what seemed to be the same woman from Aisle, who also insisted on meeting for drinks at a bar. Others specifically cautioned against meeting dates at pubs in the Thane area, advising people to be extra vigilant.
