Mumbai: The Central Railway has announced a mega block on March 16 to carry out essential maintenance and engineering work on its suburban network, which will temporarily alter local train schedules.
Key Details of the Mega Block:
- Thane-Kalyan Fast Line (UP & DOWN):
- The block will be active from 10:40 AM to 3:40 PM.
- Down Fast/Semi-Fast trains departing from CSMT Mumbai between 9:34 AM and 3:03 PM will be rerouted to the Down Slow line between Thane and Kalyan. These trains will make extra stops at Kalva, Mumbra, and Diva, causing a delay of approximately 10 minutes.
- Up Fast/Semi-Fast trains leaving Kalyan between 10:28 AM and 3:40 PM will be diverted to the Up Slow line between Kalyan and Thane, with additional stops at Diva, Mumbra, and Kalva before merging back to the Up Fast line at Mulund. These services are also expected to be 10 minutes late.
- Down Mail/Express services from CSMT/Dadar will use the 5th line between Thane and Kalyan.
- Up Mail/Express trains arriving at CSMT/Dadar will be rerouted via the 6th line between Kalyan and Thane/Vikhroli.
- The block will be active from 10:40 AM to 3:40 PM.
- Harbour and Trans-Harbour Services:
- Down Harbour Line trains to Panvel/Belapur, departing from CSMT Mumbai between 9:45 AM and 3:12 PM, will be suspended.
- Up Harbour Line services from Panvel to CSMT Mumbai, scheduled between 10:33 AM and 3:49 PM, will also be suspended.
- Up Trans-Harbour trains heading to Thane from 11:02 AM to 3:53 PM, as well as Down Trans-Harbour services to Panvel from 10:01 AM to 3:20 PM, will not operate during the block.
- Down Harbour Line trains to Panvel/Belapur, departing from CSMT Mumbai between 9:45 AM and 3:12 PM, will be suspended.
Passengers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and keep updated with the latest travel information. The Central Railway urges commuters to cooperate during these maintenance works, which are intended to boost service efficiency and strengthen infrastructure reliability.
