Mumbai’s Central Railway (CR) has scheduled a 14-hour, 30-minute megablock on the Harbour Line between Wadala Road and Mankhurd, starting late Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:05 pm and ending Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 1:35 pm. The extended closure is necessary to facilitate track diversion and realignment work between Kurla and Tilak Nagar stations, part of a significant project to construct an elevated Harbour Line station at Kurla, described by officials as a “historic” development.
The megablock will disrupt regular train services, with cancellations affecting both directions. Down services from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Panvel, Belapur, or Vashi will be halted from 10:20 pm Saturday to 1:19 pm Sunday. Up services from Panvel, Belapur, or Vashi to CSMT will be suspended from 10:07 pm Saturday to 12:56 pm Sunday. The last train before the block will depart Panvel for CSMT at 9:52 pm on Saturday, while the final CSMT-to-Panvel service will leave at 10:14 pm. Post-block, the first Panvel-to-CSMT train will run at 1:09 pm on Sunday, followed by a CSMT-to-Panvel service at 1:30 pm.
To mitigate commuter inconvenience, CR will operate special local trains between Panvel and Mankhurd during the block period. The railway is also laying two new tracks between Kurla and Tilak Nagar to enhance travel efficiency once services resume. Authorities emphasize that the megablock is critical for infrastructure upgrades and long-term safety, urging passengers to plan their travel accordingly.
Commuters are advised to check with station masters for detailed schedules and alternative arrangements. This significant disruption underscores CR’s commitment to improving Mumbai’s suburban rail network, a lifeline for millions of daily passengers, as reported by Times Now.
