Mumbai Chartered Accountant’s Suicide Linked to Rs 3 Crore Extortion Scheme

A 32-year-old chartered accountant from Mumbai’s Santacruz area took his own life after enduring 18 months of blackmail and extortion, resulting in losses exceeding Rs 3 crore, according to police reports. The victim, identified as Raj Leela More, consumed poison at his residence in Yashwant Nagar on Saturday night.

In a three-page suicide note, More named two individuals, Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi, accusing them of orchestrating the extortion by threatening to release a private video. The note detailed how the accused coerced More into siphoning funds from his company’s accounts and depleting his personal savings to meet their demands. Mumbai Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Parwani and Qureshi, charging them with extortion and abetment to suicide.

The investigation revealed that the accused allegedly extracted over Rs 3 crore from More over the past year and a half, leveraging the threat of circulating the compromising video. The Vakola police are actively probing the case to uncover further details of the extortion scheme.
