MNS Leader’s Son Faces Police Scrutiny After Drunk Driving Incident in Mumbai

Mumbai: Mumbai Police interrogated Rahil Javed Shaikh, son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Javed Shaikh, for nearly six hours on Monday following a road rage incident in Andheri West. The 26-year-old, who holds an MBA and resides in Thane, admitted to consuming alcohol with a friend in Lokhandwala before the altercation, according to police sources.
The incident occurred late Sunday night when Rahil allegedly rammed his vehicle into the car of social media influencer Rajshree More on Veera Desai Road. A viral video shared by More on Instagram shows Rahil, visibly intoxicated and shirtless, verbally abusing and threatening her while invoking his father’s position as MNS state vice president. In the footage, Rahil is heard saying, “Go and tell the cops I’m Javed Shaikh’s son, then see what happens.
More, a 39-year-old businesswoman and former associate of actress Rakhi Sawant, filed a complaint at Amboli Police Station. The FIR charges Rahil under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for outraging a woman’s modesty, rash driving, and endangering lives, along with drunk driving violations under the Motor Vehicles Act. His vehicle has been seized, and the investigation is ongoing, with police reviewing CCTV footage and the video evidence.
During questioning, Rahil expressed regret, stating he was unaware of the damage caused or the consequences of his actions due to his intoxicated state, per police sources. His father, Javed Shaikh, was present at the station during the interrogation. More, who previously faced backlash for controversial remarks about the Marathi community, claimed the incident was retaliation for her outspoken views, alleging ongoing harassment by MNS supporters.

The case has sparked public outcry, with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Nirupam condemning Rahil’s behavior and criticizing MNS for what he called “goondaism” in the name of Marathi pride. The MNS has distanced itself from the incident, stating it is unrelated to the party and that appropriate legal action should be taken.
