Minister Yogesh Kadam Identifies Over 5,000 Pakistani Nationals, Issues Notices To Leave India By April 27 | VIDEO

Mumbai: In the aftermath of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has instructed all states to ensure that no Pakistani citizens overstay beyond the Central government’s set deadline of April 27.
Earlier, the government announced the cancellation of 18 categories of visas granted to Pakistani nationals, mandating their departure within the specified timeframe or face legal consequences. An exception has been made for those undergoing medical treatment, who must leave by April 29.
Acting on these directives, the Maharashtra Home Department began gathering information on Pakistani nationals residing in the state. Minister of State for Home Affairs Yogesh Kadam reported that approximately 5,023 Pakistani citizens have been identified.
Among them, Nagpur recorded the highest figure with 2,458 individuals, followed by Thane city with 1,106. Mumbai currently hosts 14 Pakistani nationals. Out of the total, only 55 possess valid documentation, while several others are reportedly unaccounted for.
Minister Kadam noted that efforts are underway to trace those with expired visas. Some have become unreachable or have not responded to authorities’ attempts to contact them. The data collection process is ongoing and numbers may be updated, he added.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed on Friday that police across Maharashtra have been tasked with ensuring that Pakistani nationals with revoked visas do not remain. “A comprehensive list has been compiled, and strict monitoring is in place,” Fadnavis said.
