Metro to the Rescue: 2.65 Lakh Commuters Choose Rail Amid Mumbai Rains

Mumbai’s pre-monsoon downpour on Tuesday brought the city’s road traffic to a halt, but the Maha Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7 proved to be a critical alternative, transporting over 2.65 lakh commuters efficiently and safely.
While surface streets experienced severe congestion and waterlogging, the elevated metro system remained unaffected by the weather, providing Mumbaikars with a dependable transit option amidst the strained road network.
Maha Mumbai Metro officials observed a consistent level of commuter confidence, even during challenging weather conditions. A Metro spokesperson stated, “The rain came down, but we kept moving,” underscoring the network’s consistent operational performance regardless of the season.
Lines 2A (Dahisar East to DN Nagar) and 7 (Dahisar East to Gundavali) have significantly alleviated north-south traffic, particularly during adverse weather. With services operating punctually and at full capacity, commuters continue to favor the metro as their preferred mode of travel, regardless of weather.
In a public statement, the Metro assured commuters, “Monsoon or summers, season after season we’re here for you. Maha Mumbai Metro. Reliable. Resilient. With you, always.”
As Mumbai prepares for the upcoming monsoon season, the Maha Mumbai Metro reinforces its commitment as a reliable and climate-resilient transportation solution for the city’s daily commuters.
