Mumbai: Following the Metro-4 line accident on L.B.S Road in Mulund, where a section of an elevated safety wall collapsed onto an autorickshaw below, resulting in one fatality and three injuries, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has imposed a fine of Rs 5 crore on the contractor and Rs 1 crore on the consultant. The authority has also warned of strict action, including blacklisting the contractor, once the investigation report is received.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority announced on Saturday that a high-level committee headed by a senior official will be formed to determine the exact cause of the accident. This committee will examine the construction methods, quality control systems, and whether the contractor complied with all conditions, regulations, safety protocols, and quality control measures during construction. Additionally, the third-party supervision process will be thoroughly investigated, and a detailed report will be submitted immediately.

The MMRDA stated in its official statement that after the investigation is completed and responsibility is determined, strict action will be taken in accordance with other provisions of the contract, including blacklisting.
