Messi Fans Shower Praise on Mumbai Police with Heartfelt Chants at Wankhede Stadium

In a heartwarming display of gratitude, thousands of Lionel Messi supporters in Mumbai broke into applause and chants of “Thank you” for the Mumbai Police outside Wankhede Stadium, commending their effective handling of crowds and traffic during the football star’s visit.

A widely shared video captures the moment as fans clap in unison and repeatedly shout “Thank you, thank you” while police officers stand amidst the gathering. One officer is seen smiling broadly, clearly touched by the unexpected appreciation from the enthusiastic crowd.

Many attendees donned Argentina’s signature blue-and-white jerseys, with others sporting Barcelona kits, paying homage to Messi’s illustrious career with both club and country.

The gesture occurred hours before the Mumbai segment of the GOAT Tour 2025 began. Large numbers of fans had congregated along Marine Drive, the city’s scenic three-kilometre promenade by the sea. Thanks to efficient management, traffic flow and crowd movement near the venue stayed mostly smooth and orderly.

Inside the stadium, the atmosphere electrified with repeated chants of “Messi, Messi” upon the icon’s arrival, greeted by thunderous cheers. Notable figures in attendance included cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
