Mumbai Court Renews Bailable Warrant for Malaika Arora in Saif Ali Khan Hotel Brawl Case

A Mumbai court has once again issued a bailable warrant for actor Malaika Arora after she failed to appear as a witness in a long-standing legal battle involving an alleged assault by Saif Ali Khan on an NRI businessman at a luxury hotel in 2012. The incident, which unfolded on February 22, 2012, occurred during a dinner outing attended by Arora and others alongside Khan.
The case is currently under review by Chief Judicial Magistrate K S Zanwar at the Esplanade court, where witness testimonies are being documented. Arora, who was summoned earlier with a bailable warrant on February 15, missed her latest court appearance, prompting the court to re-issue the warrant on Monday. The next hearing is scheduled for April 29.
The altercation stems from a complaint lodged by businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma, leading to the arrest of Khan and two associates, Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi. All three were later granted bail. According to police reports, Khan was dining with his wife Kareena Kapoor, her sister Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora, and several male companions when the dispute erupted. Sharma alleged that after he objected to the group’s loud behavior, Khan threatened him and struck him in the face, resulting in a fractured nose. Sharma further claimed that Khan and his friends assaulted his father-in-law, Raman Patel, during the confrontation.
Khan, however, has maintained that Sharma instigated the clash by directing offensive remarks and abusive language toward the women in his party, sparking the ensuing chaos. Khan, Ladak, and Amrohi face charges under Section 325 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code as outlined in the police charge sheet.
